In-Person Mediation

Face-to-face mediation, in formats tailored to your dispute.

In-person mediation brings disputing parties together in a structured, face-to-face setting to find a mutually acceptable resolution, guided by a neutral mediator. This process encourages open dialogue, helps build trust, and avoids the need for formal legal proceedings. Sessions typically take place in a conference room or private office, and each party is given space to express their views while working towards practical solutions. I offer a range of formats tailored to the nature and complexity of the dispute:

Open-ended / multi-day mediation

Ideal for complex, high-value or sensitive disputes, including multi-party cases. These may span multiple days or be split with breaks. A pre-mediation call is often helpful to plan the process.

8-hour mediation (standard)

The most common format. One full day (usually 10am–6pm) is generally sufficient to resolve most disputes, provided the parties are well-prepared. Extra time can be arranged if needed.

4-hour mediation

Best for straightforward monetary claims where the issues are clear and the parties are ready to negotiate. Preparation is critical. I provide a risk-analysis template and request that documents be limited to 100 pages.

90-minute telephone mediation

Well-suited to smaller claims, or when participants are in different locations or face mobility challenges. Sessions can be split over multiple calls for flexibility: a short group call is followed by private discussions and a final summary.

Video-conference mediation

A convenient alternative to in-person mediation, particularly for international disputes or where travel is impractical. Zoom is my preferred platform, and sessions can be half- or full-day. Learn more about remote mediation →

Med-Arb (mediation–arbitration hybrid)

An efficient option when parties want certainty but fear a negotiation impasse. If mediation fails, I act as arbitrator to decide the unresolved issues. Common in the U.S., and increasingly worth considering in the UK.

If you're unsure which option best suits your situation, I'd be happy to discuss it with you. Feel free to email me at alistair@pye-resolve.com.
